Pastured chickens not only have access to the out of doors, they love being outside scratching in the dirt, eating bugs and grass and behaving as nature intended chickens to behave. EZ Rocking Ranch Chickens receive no medicated feed. Our free ranged chickens enjoy eating vegetable scraps, native grass, forage, natural grains and feeds. All Naturally raised. No hormones, steroids or antibiotics. Poultry is humanely treated from hatching to harvest. We do not trim beaks or mistreat in any way.

Our Free-range hens are pastured across wide areas of garden and grass land.
This keeps the pasture in good shape and makes the hens happy. The hens like to eat pasture plants, and chickens that eat lots of green plants lay eggs with deep orange yolks and greatly superior flavor.
The hens are loosely confined at night with a with electric fence, not so much to keep the chickens in, but to keep the predators out.
Factory farm/grocery store chickens may never see the sunlight, a blade of green grass and spend their entire life in the space of a sheet of typing paper.
EZ Rocking chickens have shelters and spend their life on the range. The major part of their diet is grass, bugs and seeds. You can tell by the taste and appearance of the meat and eggs.
You can also come to the ranch and see how we are raising your food. Just call ahead.

What is the true definition of free-range chicken?
The United States Department of Agriculture offers this definition:
FREE RANGE or FREE ROAMING: Producers must demonstrate to the Agency that the poultry has been allowed access to the outside.
But “allowing access” doesn’t mean much. A small door in a barn with thousands of chickens technically gives chickens an opportunity to go outside, but that doesn’t mean that they’ll have access to grass (it may only be a concrete slab). For chickens to produce the most healthful and flavorful eggs and meat, they need to be able to eat a variety of green plants, seeds and bugs. Unfortunately, you can’t tell how the chickens live by reading the package in a store.
I try to have laying hens available several times through out the year. Call or email to be placed on waiting list.
